So Comet has gone into liquidation?!!
This is a shame for the staff, but I remember writing to Comet 2 years ago after I went to Comet in the retail park in Barrow-in-Furness.
This retail park had it’s parking policed by one of these rip-off Car Parking organisations that likes to charge you an arm and a leg for trumped up charges.
In my case, I was charged over £60.00 for walking out of the retail park to find a cash point before returning to Comet to buy the goods I wanted. Apparently the rules said that if you left the retail park for any reason you would be subject to a parking fine.
I wrote to Comet about this and they told me that there was nothing they could do about it.
The result was, that I never bothered to return to that retail park and never bothered to return to Comet.
When I kicked up a fuss, I found that I was one of many hundreds of people who had suffered similar charges and who had complained to the local newspaper. Every one of those people had vowed never to return to that retail park – and they all told their friends.
Lesson is – your customer is important from parking to spending to getting home and using the goods.
Perhaps somebody should tell Cumbria County Council this as well since they seem to think that parking charges are a new form of tax.
